Talking about learning support

Progress over perfection.

You can ask for support without diagnosing your child. Describe the task, what happens and what seems to make it easier.

Try it together

  1. Record two examples such as difficulty starting written work or following several instructions.
  2. Ask about options like a visual checklist, shorter task chunks or a quieter starting space.
  3. Agree how progress will be reviewed. Ask a qualified professional if wider developmental or health concerns persist.

Words you could use

“They can tell the story aloud but struggle to begin writing. Could we discuss a supported first step?”

One manageable next step

Write one example and one question for the learning support team.

Educational support only — not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Adapt to your child’s skills and supervise activities. If difficulties are persistent, intense or unsafe, seek qualified support. In an emergency call your local emergency number (000 in Australia).
