Feelings detectives
Progress over perfection.
Play offers a low-pressure way to talk about feelings. Keep it curious and allow different interpretations of the same story.
Try it together
- Pick a story or toy scene and ask how a character might feel.
- Invite your child to point, draw or act a feeling. Accept more than one possible answer.
- Ask what kind action could help the character, then try it in the game. Do not use the game to demand personal disclosures.
Words you could use
“The teddy’s tower fell. Maybe teddy feels cross or sad. What could a friend do?”
One manageable next step
