Breaking a project into little pieces
Progress over perfection.
A whole project can feel impossible because the first step is hidden. Make the starting action and a realistic plan visible.
Try it together
- Read the task and deadline together. List the separate jobs: choose a topic, collect ideas, draft, check.
- Put one small job on each available day and include extra time for unexpected changes.
- Begin with a ten-minute action such as finding one fact. Review the plan with your child rather than taking over.
Words you could use
“We don’t have to finish the poster today. Today’s job is choosing the heading.”
One manageable next step
Write the first three actions in the homework planner.
